The Orbis school has a cafeteria committee which conducts biannual in a year which means in the span of about 10 months committee meets twice to understand the nutritional requirements of the children. The committee is well represented by two students, one parent member, two teachers, the cafeteria vendor, coordinator and the Principal . |
Due to the pandemic situation we could not conduct physically meet the manager hence conducted a telephonic interview with the manager of More supermarket, kharadi, Pune. We asked him about the wastage of food in the supermarket. He told the major reasons due to which the food would get wasted in the market was when the customers felt that the fruits/vegetables are discoloured, spoiled at some parts or rotten. He told us that they reused the spoiled fruits/vegetables were used to make manure and this manure was given to local farmers. He told that the supermarket also follows an expiry date system in which all the products have an estimated expiration date so that all the products are either sold within the expiry date or else discounted or donated incase not sold. He also told that they ensure that each and every employee is educated about food waste and its causes.
